Requirements:

To apply,

you need a Grade 12 certificate, ideally with Maths and Science. You must be at least 18. You can’t be scared of small spaces or high places; you’ll be tested for these fears. You must be healthy and in good shape, confirmed by a City medical exam and a required drug test. It’s important to be able to work well with others and stay calm under pressure. You must have a clean criminal history, which will be verified through fingerprinting and ID checks. No other forms of clearance are acceptable.

Important Requirements:

You need to live in Cape Town.
Finishing the program doesn’t mean you’ll automatically get a full-time job.
You’ll have to wear a uniform and safety gear.
To be considered for a permanent position as a Trainee Firefighter, you must pass the program, including the Firefighter 1 (NFPA 1001), Hazmat Awareness (NFPA 1072), Hazmat Operations (NFPA 1072), and First Aid Level 3 courses.
