Job Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for an experienced Dispensary Manager for their Newcastle Mall store. This role involves managing and supervising the dispensary and self-medication areas while ensuring the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care. The ideal candidate should be responsible, detail-oriented, and capable of leading the dispensary team effectively.
Key Responsibilities
π Dispensary Management
- Oversee dispensary and self-medication areas, ensuring adequate staffing and staff compliance with their scope of practice.
- Ensure adherence to Good Pharmacy Practice rules and regulations.
- Regularly inspect stock for expired or short-dated items and manage their disposal.
- Ensure negative stock is addressed daily and assist with stocktake preparation.
π Pharmaceutical Care
- Accurately interpret and process prescriptions in compliance with legal and SAPC requirements.
- Provide medication counseling and accurate instructions to patients on how to use prescribed medications.
- Keep up-to-date with medical aid procedures and assist in claims submissions.
- Process authorizations for chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medications.
- Maintain patient profiles and ensure data accuracy in the system.
π Staff Supervision & Training
- Supervise and mentor dispensary staff to ensure high levels of customer service and pharmaceutical care.
- Ensure that the Dispensary Admin Assistant is well-trained and proficient in managing dispensary admin tasks.
π Operational Compliance
- Maintain stock levels and ensure proper ordering of medications.
- Oversee the management of Schedule 6 medications by ensuring proper storage and register maintenance.
- Ensure that SAPC registration is kept up to date and annual fees are paid.
Minimum Requirements
β Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 / Matric
- BPharm or equivalent qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Registered Tutor
- Unisolv experience
- Supervisory experience in a dispensary setting
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Strong numerical skills and fluency in English and a second language
β Advantageous
- At least 7 years of management experience
- Experience in retail/FMCG operations
- Knowledge of SAP and E-scripting
