Job Description: Stores/Warehouse Assistant

This coca-cola role offers an opportunity to contribute to the efficient operation of our stores/warehouse facility. As a coca-cola Stores/Warehouse Assistant, you will work collaboratively with the Storeman to ensure the smooth and accurate flow of goods and materials. You will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of coca-cola stores/warehouse operations, from receiving deliveries to managing stock levels and distributing materials to relevant departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Goods Receiving: Assist in the unloading of deliveries, verifying the accuracy of received goods against delivery notes and purchase orders. This includes checking for any damages or discrepancies and reporting them to the Storeman promptly. Ensure proper documentation is completed and filed accurately.
  • Stock Management: Participate in the organization and arrangement of stock within the warehouse, adhering to established storage procedures and location systems. Assist in conducting regular stock checks and cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records. Report any discrepancies or potential stock losses to the Storeman.
  • Goods Distribution: Prepare and distribute materials and equipment to designated departments or personnel, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. This may involve picking orders, packaging materials, and completing relevant paperwork.
  • Secure Storage and Asset Management: Responsible for the safe and secure storage of all company assets, including equipment, finished goods, and raw materials. Ensure items are stored correctly according to their specific requirements, minimizing the risk of damage, deterioration, or loss. Maintain a clean and organized storage environment.
  • Ad-Hoc Duties: Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the Storeman or Warehouse Manager to support the overall functioning of the stores/warehouse. This may include assisting with cleaning, maintenance, or other general warehouse duties.
  • SHEQ Requirements (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality): Adhere to all company SHEQ policies and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy working environment. Participate in safety training and report any potential hazards or incidents to the appropriate personnel.
  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) Compliance: In certain environments, adherence to GMP principles will be required. This includes following established procedures for handling and storing materials to ensure product quality and integrity. This may include maintaining cleanliness standards and adhering to specific handling protocols.

Skills, Experience & Education

  • Education: Successful completion of Grade 12, demonstrating a solid foundation of general knowledge and academic skills.
  • Inventory Management Proficiency: Demonstrated knowledge of the processes involved in receiving, meticulously managing, and efficiently distributing goods. This includes understanding of stock rotation, storage optimization, and inventory control principles.
  • Equipment Operation: Certified to operate a forklift, signifying competency in the safe and effective handling of materials within a warehouse or distribution environment. This certification implies adherence to safety regulations and operational best practices.
  • Driving License: Possession of a valid Code B driver’s license, indicating the ability to operate light motor vehicles and facilitating transportation-related tasks when required.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in the use of computers and common software applications. This includes skills such as data entry, email communication, and basic document creation, which are essential for modern workplace operations.
  • SAP Advantage: Knowledge of SAP (Systems, Applications & Products in Data Processing) is considered a significant advantage. Familiarity with SAP functionalities could contribute to streamlined processes, improved data accuracy, and enhanced efficiency in various business functions. This experience might include using SAP modules for inventory management, warehouse management, or supply chain operations.
