Fruitways Farming is excited to announce a valuable opportunity for unemployed South African youth to gain practical experience and develop valuable skills through the YES (Youth Employment Service) Youth Learner Programme. Fruitways are offering one (x1) position on a 12-month fixed-term contract at our Glen Elgin site, commencing in 2025. This Learnership provides a fantastic platform to gain real-world experience in the agricultural sector, enhance your employability, and contribute to the success of a leading fruit farming operation.

  • Internship Location: The successful candidate will be based primarily at the Glen Elgin Farm, located within the broader Fruitways Farming operational area. This includes potential work assignments at various locations such as Eikenhof, Applegarth, Mara, Jackal River, or Graymead Reception, all situated in the scenic Western Cape province.

Who Should Apply?

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic young individuals who meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Age: Must be between 18 and 27 years old at the time of application.
  • Technology: Must own a smartphone with internet access, as this will be used for communication and potential learning activities.
  • Computer Literacy: Must possess basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. These skills are essential for data entry, report writing, and communication.
  • Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID.
  • Language Proficiency: Must be able to speak Afrikaans and/or English fluently. The ability to communicate in isiXhosa is considered a significant advantage.
  • Work Ethic: Must be able to work effectively under pressure, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for interacting with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Previous Participation: Must not have participated in a previous YES Programme, as this Learnership is designed to offer opportunities to new entrants to the programme.
  • Literacy: Must be able to read, write, and understand English proficiently. This is critical for comprehending instructions, completing tasks, and communicating effectively.
  • Education: Must have successfully completed Matric / Grade 12.
  • Experience (Preferred): While not mandatory, 1–2 years of working experience in any field is preferred. This demonstrates a commitment to work and a willingness to learn.
