Position Overview
Prestige Cosmetics Group is seeking a driven, talented, and tech-savvy individual to join the NARS team in Sandton, Johannesburg as an Assistant Store Manager and Make-Up Artist. If you’re passionate about cosmetics, makeup artistry, and looking to grow within the retail sector, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of NARS’ first standalone retail store in South Africa.
In this role, you will maximize sales and profitability, ensure excellent customer service, and manage daily store operations. You will also take on responsibilities to support the Store Manager in their absence.
Key Responsibilities
Business Performance
- Assist with the store’s P&L, budgets, and sales projections.
- Ensure effective expense management to increase profitability.
- Develop stock loss prevention strategies to maintain store profit margins.
- Monitor sales performance, track targets, and implement action plans.
- Ensure safety compliance in accordance with OHASA standards.
- Maintain the role of risk control including stock management, banking, and health and safety protocols.
Customer Service Delivery
- Implement NARS’ customer service strategy ensuring a luxury shopping experience.
- Ensure optimal staffing levels to meet customer needs and achieve sales targets.
- Oversee customer recruitment and retention via CRM, keeping VIP clients engaged.
- Handle customer complaints and feedback, ensuring swift resolution.
Merchandise Management
- Oversee stock management, ensuring correct product placement according to NARS guidelines.
- Conduct regular stock analysis and identify issues such as overstocks or stockouts.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager on merchandise execution and compliance.
Brand Management
- Monitor competitor activities to stay ahead in product offerings, pricing, and promotions.
- Maintain hygiene and safety standards in-store as per the brand’s requirements.
- Ensure brand integrity is upheld at all times.
People Management
- Assist with the recruitment and training of new team members.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to staff.
- Implement Individual Development Plans (IDP) for team members to encourage growth.
- Foster a motivated, harmonious working environment, ensuring a positive workplace culture.
- Manage team performance, holding regular meetings, and providing necessary feedback.
Market Intelligence
- Conduct environmental scans on competitors and trends in the beauty industry.
- Adapt business strategies based on these insights to improve the store’s performance.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Ensure a consistent client experience aligned with NARS’ luxury standards.
Administration & Reporting
- Track and analyze sales data, and generate competitor reports.
- Create store schedules and manage leave applications using ESS.
- Assist in financial reporting, including overtime claims and adherence to payroll deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in the cosmetics retail industry.
- At least 5 years of advanced make-up experience.
- A Make-Up Certificate is advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of current beauty trends and makeup artistry techniques.
- A team player who is proactive and a problem-solver.
- Must be willing to work weekends and shift hours as required.
- Own transport is essential.
