Job: Firefighter Training trainee
Department: Community Services

What you need to qualify:

High school diploma
A current driver’s licence (Code B or C1)
Proof you passed the physical test for firefighters
Good health (meeting NFPA 1582 rules)
Able to handle tough physical and mental work

Clean criminal record
Must be ready to:
Work different shifts, extra hours, and quickly respond to emergencies
Work at any fire station in the city
Have Firefighting 1 and First Aid certificates
Speak at least two of these languages well: English, Afrikaans, or isiXhosa

Having these things will make you stand out from other applicants:

🧯 What You’ll Do
In this job, you will:

  • Drive fire trucks and emergency vehicles
  • Go to fires, rescues, and other emergencies
  • Keep equipment, vehicles, and fire stations ready to use
  • Write reports and help keep records
  • Help with buying things and managing supplies
  • Keep physically fit and learn new skills
    You’ll also help with office tasks and be ready to handle new duties during emergencies.

💼 Pay and Perks
This job is at pay level T06 in a Category 1 Municipality and includes:

  • Yearly Pay:
    R155,086.20 – R201,319.92 (based on your experience and skills)
  • Benefits:
