PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The Field Technician Junior position is a crucial role focused on ensuring seamless connectivity for our customers through the proficient installation, repair, and maintenance of our Wireless and Fibre networks. The primary duty of the Field Technician Junior will be to take ownership of and expertly execute installations, repairs, and surveys, with a specific emphasis on standard residential and small, basic business environments.

This encompasses a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to, the physical setup of network equipment, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction with the delivered service.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for acting as a point of contact for customers, providing clear communication and technical expertise, ensuring that their connectivity needs are met promptly and efficiently. Moreover, the Field Technician Junior will contribute to the overall performance of the field operations team by maintaining accurate records of work performed, adhering to established safety protocols, and actively seeking opportunities to improve efficiency and service quality in their daily tasks.

Main tasks include:

General:

Follow standard ways of doing things.
Work with a Team Leader and Planner.
Keep project and safety papers in order.
Give correct reports on completed tasks.
Make sure all needed supplies are ready for scheduled work.


Keep tools in good condition.
Follow all safety rules.
Fill out all safety paperwork.
Fix fiber optic problems: joining wires, testing, managing connections.
Fix wireless issues: testing signals on devices, access points, and internet speed.
Fix basic network problems: IP clashes, firewall, and connection problems.


Set up phone systems that use the internet.
Give great customer service.
Work extra hours, weekends, or respond to urgent calls when needed.
Work in high places like roofs or poles.
Work in tight spaces to install things.

Installation:

Get job orders for new setups each day.
Check job orders to get the right supplies.
Make sure clients get what they asked for. Tell Sales or Tech if the order needs changes.
Set up fiber optic and wireless devices.


Run cables inside and outside for networks and fiber optics.
Talk to the Install Leader to confirm the wireless signal is strong enough.
Talk to the Install Leader to confirm the fiber optic signal is right and colors match.
Do simple setup of internet access points and networks.

Make sure current devices are still running and the customer agrees they are working properly.
Update the software on all devices, clean them, and take pictures to ensure quality.
After installation, have your team leader check the work for quality and confirm it’s finished.
Fill out a form with the devices used, technical details, and pictures.
Look around the location for potential future problems, take photos, and make updates.
Update the service request with all the work done to finish the form and prepare the bill.

For repair visits:

Verify the problems with the customer as noted on the service request.
Find the cause of the problem quickly and effectively.
Be able to find the reasons why the internet connection (fiber or wireless) is not working its best and figure out how to fix it.


Explain any costs involved with the repair.
Know about the products and their prices.
Fix the problem on the spot or replace the broken device.
Confirm with the customer that the repair is done and that they have tested it.
Make sure the customer is happy with the completed work.
After the repair, have your team leader check the work for quality and confirm it’s finished.
Look around the location for potential future problems, take photos, and make updates.

Requirements:

You need a high school diploma.

Having specific training certificates is a plus.
