Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Pharmacist to join their team at the Bryanpark store in Sandton. As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients’ medicine-related needs are met. The role also includes evaluating prescriptions, dispensing medications, and providing advice and instructions to patients regarding proper use.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision of Pharmaceutical Care: Evaluate patients’ medicine-related needs, ensuring the safety, efficacy, and appropriateness of therapy.
- Dispensing of Medicine: Dispense medications and scheduled substances based on prescriptions, ensuring compliance with legal and health regulations.
- Prescriptions Checking: Sign off and check all prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns, assuming accountability for correctness as per GPP guidelines.
- Patient Counseling: Provide information and advice to patients on the use of their medications, including drug interactions and dosages.
- Follow-up Care: Monitor patient compliance with therapy, ensuring patients’ ongoing medicine-related needs are met.
- Stock Management: Assist with the purchasing, storage, packaging, and management of medicines. Report low stock levels and facilitate stock taking.
- Medical Aid Handling: Process claims to medical aids, correct errors, and ensure authorization for chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medications.
- Customer Service: Assist customers at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front shop, ensuring high levels of service and satisfaction.
Minimum Requirements
- Education:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- BPharm or equivalent qualification.
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in pharmaceutical and retail pharmacy (Student/Intern experience included).
- Computer literate (MS Office).
- Advantageous:
- Relevant retail/FMCG experience.
- Proficiency in E-scripting and Unisolv.
- Ability to speak a third language.
- SAP experience.
- Registered tutor.

- Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
- South African citizen.
- Clear credit and criminal records (MIE check).
