Job Description

Fidelity Services Group is seeking dedicated Firefighters to respond to fire-related incidents, provide emergency rescue services, and perform preventative fire safety duties. This role also includes operating and maintaining firefighting equipment to protect lives and property of Fidelity Group clients.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Firefighting and Emergency Response:
    • Responding to fire incidents, rescues, and hazardous substance emergencies.
    • Performing casualty extrications, resuscitations, and emergency operations.
    • Operating equipment to control and extinguish fires.
  2. Preventative and Training Duties:
    • Conducting fire prevention activities.
    • Training employees in firefighting theory and practices.
    • Advising on and implementing fire safety procedures.
  3. Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance:
    • Checking, cleaning, and maintaining firefighting vehicles and equipment.
    • Ensuring all apparatus and equipment are operationally ready.
  4. Administrative and Compliance Duties:
    • Maintaining records of daily occurrences and incident reports.
    • Ensuring adherence to health and safety standards and policies.
    • Participating in health and safety committee meetings.
  5. Supervisory Functions:
    • Conducting safety inspections.
    • Supervising shift operations and training drills.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • Educational Background:
    • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
    • IFSAC Accredited, NFPA 1001 Firefighter II certification.
  • Professional Experience:
    • 2–3 years of firefighting-related experience.
    • Hazmat knowledge and experience are essential.
    • Advanced driving experience advantageous.
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • Valid Code C1 driver’s license with PrDP.
    • EMT certification and First Aid Levels 1–3.
    • Basic Ambulance Attendant qualification.
  • Skills and Attributes:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Sound knowledge of fire prevention procedures and firefighting systems.
    • Physical fitness and medical fitness.
    • Clear criminal record.

Core Competencies

  • Knowledge of Hazmat guidelines.
  • Familiarity with fire safety training and inspection protocols.
  • Strong administrative, communication, and customer service skills.
