About the Role: Cultivating Culinary and Managerial Excellence

The successful candidates will embark on a comprehensive learning journey specializing in Supporting the head chef with all kitchen management, paperwork, and daily tasks. This hands-on experience will encompass a wide array of responsibilities within our dedicated Hospitality Department, which forms a crucial part of the esteemed Eskom Academy of Learning Division.

Key Responsibilities: A Comprehensive Learning Experience
As a Hospitality Learner at Eskom, you will be instrumental in the smooth and efficient operation of our food service facilities. Your responsibilities will provide a holistic understanding of culinary and hospitality management, including but not limited to:
- Culinary Preparation and Execution: Actively participating in the cooking of diverse meals, from daily staff provisions to special event catering, under the guidance of experienced culinary professionals. This will involve learning various cooking techniques, food preparation, and presentation standards.
- Inventory Management and Control: Taking an active role in managing inventory of food supplies, kitchen equipment, and other hospitality learner provisions. This includes stock rotation, order placement, receiving deliveries, and minimizing waste to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Administrative and Quality Assurance: Efficiently handling essential office tasks and paperwork related to kitchen operations, such as record-keeping, scheduling, and compliance documentation. A key aspect of this responsibility will be adhering rigorously to ISO standards and other relevant quality management systems to maintain the highest levels of service and hygiene.
- Customer Service Excellence: Providing exceptional service to customers and guests, ensuring a positive dining experience through attentive service, polite communication, and efficient handling of requests. This includes serving meals, clearing tables, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
- Health, Safety, and Hygiene Compliance: Diligently following all health and safety rules and regulations pertaining to food preparation, handling, and storage. This commitment to safety extends to maintaining immaculate kitchen hygiene, proper equipment usage, and emergency procedures to ensure a safe environment for both staff and patrons.
