MAIN JOB GOAL
Respond to emergencies at the assigned location and give medical treatment according to your training.
To get this job, you must pass a physical fitness test and a exam.
MAIN DUTIES:
Be ready for emergency situations.
Take care of patients following set guidelines.
Give expert emergency medical help to people at the work site.
EDUCATION NEEDED:
MUST HAVE: Certificate as an Ambulance Emergency Assistant or a higher certificate in emergency medical care.
NICE TO HAVE: It’s a plus to have finished training on the Health Professions Council of South Africa’s Clinical Practice Guidelines. If you don’t meet these guidelines when you apply, you’ll need to finish the training during your trial period if you get the job.
EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
MUST HAVE: At least one year of experience in Emergency Medical Services.
NICE TO HAVE: One year of experience as an Intermediate Life Support provider.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE NEEDED:
Knowledge of local buildings, roads, and population.
Understanding of HPCSA rules and medical care limits.
Familiarity with the EMS field.
Good at speaking and writing in English.
Know how to fill out Patient Report Forms.
Understanding of workplace safety laws (OSH Act; Mine Health and Safety Act and risk management).
Knowledge of and ability to use the best medical practices.
