Role Purpose

Bidvest Prestige is seeking an Industrial Relations (IR) Manager to provide expertise in Industrial Relations (IR) and ensure adherence to labour legislation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing union relationships, ensuring compliance with labour laws, and advising the business on employee relations.


Key Responsibilities

Labour Law Compliance & Policy Management

  • Ensure adherence to relevant labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EEA, OHSA).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain IR policies and procedures.
  • Conduct internal training on company policies and labour laws.

Union & Employee Relations

  • Manage relationships with unions and employee representatives.
  • Act as a mediator in disputes, including strikes, wage negotiations, and disciplinary processes.
  • Represent the company in CCMA and Bargaining Council proceedings.

Dispute Resolution & Negotiations

  • Handle employee grievances and resolve workplace disputes.
  • Assist with section 189/197 retrenchment processes and mutual separation agreements.
  • Represent the company in client-specific union negotiations and monthly workplace meetings.

Training & Advisory

  • Provide guidance to employees and management on labour regulations.
  • Monitor and advise on shop floor industrial relations.
  • Conduct internal training sessions on industrial relations policies.

Administrative & Compliance Reporting

  • Prepare documentation for CCMA and Bargaining Council cases.
  • Maintain accurate records of labour disputes and resolutions.
  • Stay up to date with changes in labour legislation.

Minimum Requirements

📌 Education & Certifications:
National Diploma in Human Resources Management or Industrial Psychology (preferred)
SABPP Registration (advantageous)
Matric / Senior Certificate

📌 Experience & Skills:
10 years’ experience in Industrial Relations or People Management
✔ Strong knowledge of Labour Legislation (LRA, BCEA, EEA, SDA)
✔ Experience in union negotiations, wage disputes, and retrenchment processes
MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook – Intermediate level)
Valid South African Driver’s License
