This Coca-Cola program is designed to provide you with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to excel in the field of packaging within a fast-paced and innovative manufacturing environment.
As a Packaging Learner, you will be immersed in a learning environment that combines theoretical instruction with real-world application. You will work alongside experienced professionals and gain exposure to the various stages of the packaging process, from material handling and machine operation to quality control and troubleshooting.
Reporting directly to the Training Controller, you will receive dedicated guidance and support throughout your learnership journey. The Training Controller will be responsible for overseeing your progress, providing mentorship, and ensuring that you are equipped with the resources you need to succeed. Key Duties & Responsibilities
As a Learner, you will actively participate in a comprehensive program designed to provide hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge related to the bottling process. This program aims to equip you with the skills and understanding necessary to contribute effectively to the bottling operation. The learner will be exposed to the following key areas:
- Bottling Processes and Procedures: This includes a thorough understanding of the entire bottling process, from the arrival of raw materials to the final packaging of the finished product. You will learn about the various stages involved, such as preparation of the product, filling the bottles, capping, labeling, and packaging. You will also gain insight into the specific equipment used at each stage and its proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Furthermore, you will learn about the flow of materials and how different departments work together to ensure a seamless and efficient bottling process.
- Safety and Housekeeping Standards: You will be immersed in a culture of safety, learning and adhering to strict safety regulations and procedures. This includes understanding potential hazards in the bottling environment, such as moving machinery, slippery floors, and the handling of chemicals. You will be trained in the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and learn how to prevent accidents and injuries. Housekeeping standards will also be emphasized, with training on maintaining a clean and organized work environment to prevent contamination, ensure efficient workflow, and promote a safe working environment for all. This will encompass procedures for waste disposal, cleaning of equipment, and maintaining a clutter-free workspace.
- Quality Tests and Specifications: You will learn about the importance of quality control in the bottling process and the various tests conducted to ensure that the final product meets the required standards. This will include understanding the specifications for raw materials, in-process samples, and the finished product. You will be trained in performing basic quality tests, such as visual inspection, fill level checks, and seal integrity tests. You will also learn how to document test results accurately and identify potential deviations from the specifications. Understanding the principles of quality assurance will be key to ensure consistent product quality.
- Food Handling Practices: You will receive training in proper food handling practices to prevent contamination and ensure the safety of the product. This includes understanding the principles of hygiene, such as proper handwashing techniques, and wearing appropriate protective clothing. You will also learn about the importance of preventing cross-contamination and how to handle food products safely at each stage of the bottling process. This will cover areas such as temperature control, storage, and transportation, as well as understanding the legal and regulatory requirements for food safety. You will learn about HACCP principles and how they apply to the bottling operation.
Needed abilities, background, and schooling:
WHAT YOU NEED
A high school diploma with a passing mark in Math (not basic Math) and Science, scoring 50% or higher.
Passing grades in two South African languages, each with a score of at least 40%.
Candidates cannot have previously completed this specific training at another company.
OTHER THINGS YOU NEED
Must be a South African citizen.
Must be an Employment Equity candidate.
Applicants must be jobless when applying.
Must be between 18 and 35 years old.
Having N5/N6 is a plus.
