Job Purpose

The Driver Code 8 role at Brights Hardware ensures timely, accurate, and safe delivery of goods while maintaining exceptional customer service. Key responsibilities include vehicle maintenance checks, proper documentation handling, and efficient route planning. This position plays a critical role in customer satisfaction and supports business growth by promoting efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Service:
   • Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and at branch interactions.
2. Documentation and Reporting:
   • Complete daily trip sheets, including departure/arrival times and kilometer readings.
   • Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle inspections and record findings on trip sheets.
   • Submit weekly evaluation reports to your supervisor.
3. Vehicle Maintenance:
   • Perform basic roadworthy checks on the vehicle daily.
   • Report any defects to the supervisor using the vehicle repair report.
4. Delivery and Logistics:
   • Ensure that truck assistants are present during deliveries.
   • Plan the most efficient delivery routes.
   • Verify that all outgoing stock has proper documentation.
   • Ensure stock is delivered in excellent condition.
   • Record and transfer documentation in the logbook, ensuring branches sign for received stock.
5. Operational Duties:
   • Report delays at branches to the supervisor.
   • Participate in perpetual stock takes.
   • Perform other work-related tasks as delegated by superiors.

Requirements

• Educational Qualifications:
  • Matric or equivalent.
  • Candidates without Matric will be considered if they have a valid license and 3 years of driving experience.
• Experience:
  • At least 1 year of driving experience.
• Licensing:
  • Valid Code 8 Driver’s Licence (higher code is advantageous).
  • PDP (Public Driving Permit for Goods and Passengers).
• Skills:
  • Ability to handle pressure.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Monitoring and organizational abilities.
  • High-level communication and reading skills.
  • Knowledge of vehicle loading and planning.
  • Time management and route planning expertise.
