Job Overview
Fidelity Services Group is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Leading Firefighter. This role involves responding to fire-related emergencies, providing rescue services, rendering basic medical care, performing fire prevention duties, and operating firefighting equipment.
The position is vital to safeguarding lives and property for Fidelity’s clients by ensuring swift and effective responses to emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities
Emergency Operations:
- Responding to fires, rescues, and hazardous substance incidents.
- Managing extrication and casualty release operations.
- Administering emergency medical care and resuscitation.
- Operating equipment for fire control and extinguishment.
Fire Prevention & Training:
- Conducting fire protection duties and risk assessments.
- Training employees on fire prevention and firefighting techniques.
- Advising on preventive measures and corrective actions.
Maintenance & Readiness:
- Performing routine checks, cleaning, and maintenance of firefighting equipment and vehicles.
- Ensuring all equipment is operationally ready.
- Conducting health and safety inspections.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintaining daily occurrence logs.
- Participating in health and safety committee meetings.
- Completing shift-related administrative tasks.
Supervisory Functions:
- Leading functional personnel in operations.
- Supervising adherence to Occupational Health and Safety standards.
- Ensuring compliance with equipment maintenance schedules and safety policies.
Qualifications & Experience Required
Educational Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (Matric) as a minimum requirement.
- IFSAC Accreditation.
Certifications:
- NFPA 1001 Firefighter II Certification.
- Firefighting II Certification.
- EMT Certification.
- ILS Medical certification is essential.
Experience:
- 2–3 years of related firefighting experience.
- Advanced driving experience (advantageous).
- Hazmat experience and knowledge are mandatory.
Licensing:
- Valid Code C1 driver’s license with PrDP.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Knowledge of fire-fighting systems and fire prevention procedures.
- Sound understanding of Hazmat guidelines.
- Administration, interpersonal, and customer liaison skills.
- Medically and physically fit for duty.
- Clear criminal record.

- Understand and apply fire prevention and safety protocols.
